How We Steward

Stewardship means taking care of what has been entrusted to us. Remember when we talked about our hand-me-down world and its rips? The world is not simply ours to use. It's ours to care for. That includes the planet itself, the people around us, our communities, and even the values and knowledge we pass on.
Stewardship isn’t always easy. It often means sacrificing convenience for responsibility, or short-term gain for long-term good. It applies not only to the environment but also to poverty, injustice, mental health, and peace. Every choice we make has an impact on what kind of world we leave behind.
The question is not if we will impact the world, but how. Each of us is already a steward, whether good or bad. So what kind of legacy do you want to leave? What do you want future generations to thank you for? How urgent are these matters to you?
"Man has lost the capacity to foresee and to forestall. He will end by destroying the earth."
Albert Schweitzer
“The earth was here before us and it has been given to us.”
Pope Francis
“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
